GridSense Systems Inc., founded in 1974, manufactures and distributes advanced monitoring systems to electric utilities to cost effectively, improve power quality & reliability ('PQR'). High PQR is now very important for electric utilities, due to competition from privatization and deregulation. Furthermore, digital electronics, now used throughout industry, commerce and domestically, means PQR must be high, as digital systems frequently malfunction, when voltage disturbances occur, such as sags, swells, harmonics, transients, flicker, or when large motors start, etc.
The unique GridSense PowerMonic™ PQR Analyzers and patented, world first LineTracker™ systems, currently in their fourth generation, provide reliable, error free real-time monitoring of faulted circuits, voltage disturbances, load logging, conductor and ambient temperature on distribution or transmission networks, where it was cost prohibitive or impractical, previously. They also predict and pinpoint future problems, allowing pro active maintenance, planning, regulatory information and quick operational decisions, especially if multiple faults occur concurrently. Old technology fault indicators, or faulted circuit indicators can identify only the initial fault and can seriously mislead operators when multiple faults occur, e.g. from multiple lightning strikes or when high fault current causes damage at weak points of the network, remote from the initial fault.
GridSense Systems provides instantaneous remote reporting at operational centres or control rooms, by wireless RF, cellular, satellite, internet, etc. with clear, concise graphical software presentation, interfacing into the utility's own databases, including SCADA and Outage Management Systems (OMS). GridSense has partnered industry leaders for this integration. GridSense also supplies patented DMS Monitors to check the integrity of and leakage current in EHV (Extra High Voltage) insulator systems, or for safe inspection at close range of all parts of live EHV networks.
